During my study French Language and Culture at Utrecht University (1997-2001) I researched the subject of language acquisition: how do people learn a language? This was when my passion for teaching language was born. On finishing my study I chose to teach Dutch, in particular to non-Dutch speakers, because Dutch, my mother tongue, is the language I know best. I also enjoy helping people reach their objectives in their work or education, a process that is also made easier with a better command of the language.
After working for a number of years as a teacher of Dutch, I once again turned to French. Even though I gained a good grounding in French, I decided to take a part-time translation course at ITV University for Interpreters and Translators in order to master the problems of translating. I have also followed a course at the Institute of Court Interpreters and Legal Translators (SIGV) to become a legal translator, specializing in criminal law. I have been sworn in as legal translator by the law court of Utrecht.
